Who loves to break fashion myths? I do! Lets look into some of the fashion myths and my opinion on how to bust them.

MENSWEAR IS ONLY FOR MEN

One of the biggest myths. Earlier the perception was that women’s fashion evolved faster than men’s. But now men’s clothing is more fun, bold, and edgy. Try switching to men’s clothing can clearly tell you that the world doesn’t want women to get too comfortable! Picked up the entire outfit from the men’s section @ajio

Go shop from the men’s section. Thank me later 😘

P.S. have you ever tried the sleepwear from men’s section! You will find the softest possible tee-s to sleep in that too in various colours, unlike the women’s section that’s filled with pinks!

SWIMSUIT IS ONLY FOR A POOL OR BEACH

Look 1: We all have that one most comfortable pair of leggings that we can wear all day…taking the comfort factor in mind the same has been paired up with a swimsuit and a blazer making it a perfect for workwear.

Look 2: Pair up your swimsuit with a nice flared or A-Line skirt to get that feminine look perfect for any occasion!

Look 3: Swimsuit paired up with shorts and a blazer making it a perfect outfit for a brunch or visit to a art gallery. Matching your blazer and shorts colour will make it semi-formal or contrast colour choice makes it more casual.

How to choose a swimsuit for pairing? Choose one-piece swimsuits in prints & patterns. For solid colours accessorize with a waist belt.

P.S: The same swimsuit has been used for creating different looks demonstrating the versatility of a piece!

TRACKSUIT IS ONLY FOR ATHLETES

The standard idea of a tracksuit is a warm suit worn by athletes for training purposes. However, there is much more to that fashion myth! A good tracksuit is a great staple to add to the urban wardrobe. Now the tracksuit trend is all about deconstruction, neutrals and looking great while rocking a 100% comfort-oriented look. #TakingTracksuitEverywhere

STRIPES ARE UNFLATTERING

Rumour has it that stripes are unflattering—that they might emphasise wide hips or make a petite woman seem fatter.

But that’s a total myth! Horizontal stripes have a bad reputation—they’re basically synonymous with the dreaded fashion “don’t.” I do not know who created the so-called rules around fashion that grow into myths but they have an awful lot to answer for.

ALWAYS MATCH YOUR BELT WITH YOUR SHOES

Or they should belong to the same colour family. This myth has pretty much gone by the wayside and really nobody bothers to adhere to it anymore. Shoes, belts and purses can be statement pieces in an outfit and the rule of matching each one of them exists no more!

Another of the fashion “rule” that feels more outdated is “Don’t mix your prints”!
