After sifting through the AW 2020 collections, I have narrowed down the biggest trends of the season to stay in style. While you might not be spending quite as much time outdoors as you usually would around this time of year, that doesn’t mean you can’t dress to the times when you finally do.
When compiling this trend report, I was conscious to avoid any trends that can’t be incorporated in the daily life because what’s the point of following a trend that’s not relatable & wearable.
Checks
Checks have featured on every autumn trend report. They have made a welcome return for the colder months. An easy-to-wear print, checks will make an easy addition to any wardrobe whether that be in the form of skirt, blazer, trousers or dresses.
This made to order check blazer suit is my own creation (@prernanigamdesign) created as a perfect look to not look boring while wearing a blazer suit. These flared end trousers work with both your winter boots now and your spring sandals, mules, and pumps later.
You can add a touch of femininity to the look in the form of accessories.
Dramatic/puffed sleeves
Whether you’ve had enough of the oversized sleeve/dramatic / statement sleeves or not, you can certainly expect these statement sleeves to stick around for another season at the very least. There is only one rule when it comes to sleeves this season: pump, pump, pump it up and so does the hair takes the volume.
Here’s to another AW 2020 trend!
Equestrian & Natural tones all over
This is one of my most favourite & comfortable trends for the season! Breaking the trend & look for you 👇🏻
Equestrian or Tucking your straight leg trousers into boots puts a funky spin on the classic outfit, and adds a subtle punk twist to your ensemble!
Natural tones: Also known as Earthy tones, any color containing some brown. These monochromatic and neutral outfits are easy to replicate and look great on everyone. Choose from a sandy-colored combo and play around with throwing some neutral colours on top (like the black bustier here). In the look here, the trend is also combined with another hot trend of padded shoulders for the look.
Belted Jackets/Shackets
This is a simple styling update that you can probably achieve with items you already own. The key trend is to wear jackets and blazers (usually ones with boxy proportions) with a belt looped around the waist.
Leather and faux iterations have also been the key fabrics for several seasons, and they still dominated in the A/W 2020 trends. Moving from the traditional Blacks & tans in leather new colours are added to create statement pieces.
Red All-over
Bold, bright, warm and energetic, this fiery red hue is the biggest colour take-away for the season. Whether you opt in via a maxi dress, a trouser suit or even a top and skirt, there’s no holding back with this one.
Just accessorize it well to not go OTT.
Faux Fur
Faux -fur is more than just a trend – it’s a statement piece on the runways but at the same time it is also for the season.
So as you begin your winter shopping, just remember that you need one in your wardrobe.
